Visual FoxPro Conversions

VFP Solutions 2021

We all know Microsoft ended support of Visual FoxPro long ago, but you are still using the program…and it’s working for you. Well, for now. There are some recent developments that you should be aware of with the current state (‘end-of-life’) of Visual FoxPro. And these developments could cause disaster if not taken into consideration. It could very well be time to consider converting to .NET.

The Visual FoxPro legacy software has served well for almost three decades now. There are still millions of companies that had applications built and developed on Visual FoxPro and they are still dependent on them today for their businesses. The technology is quite specific to them in particular and migrating to a new system without downtime is critical to their success.

If you get started on converting VFP sooner than later, you will have time to carefully add new functionality such as mobile apps. You can carefully plan the transition; and you will have more skilled programmers to choose from, keeping the costs down. We recommend that you convert to C#.NET with a SQL database. And SQL database is one of the most secure databases available and is owned and supported by Microsoft.

We convert Visual FoxPro to C#.NET. If you are doing your own conversion, we have many tools to assist you such as automatic conversion of almost all of the objects in an FRX or SCX file as well as conversion of much of the actual programming code from Visual FoxPro to C#.NET.

Our auto convert programs are getting more and more powerful. This enables us to bring down the cost of your investment. Our aim is to make them so powerful that hundreds or even thousands more smaller businesses can afford to convert.

We think that a thorough analysis of your program code, reports, forms (screens), etc. is the critical first step in determining the scope of the conversion. If you would like to discuss your project, please contact us.
